Weekending

Monday, February 26, 2018

Happy Monday Everyone! This weekend was a busy one. Friday packed full of getting everything ready for today. After work J went and got Charlee and we meet a few people at a local Thai restaurant for dinner. We spent way to long laughing and before we knew it was 8:30. We went home to do bath and bedtime then went to bed as soon as we could.

Saturday morning we woke up to get to gymnastics on time. We have to drive about 30-45 mins to be there right at 8:25 in the morning. After gymnastics we had breakfast at Milos and hit the road to Dothan, Alabama. My sweet almost 14 month old has almost climbed out of the crib a few times already so we went and purchased the toddler conversion for crib for when she finally almost gets it. She puts her leg all the way up on the bar but can't get her body up yet. I know we will have to change it over soon we just aren't there yet. I can't believe my baby is such a big girl. She started sitting in a booster chair at restaurants this weekend. She is so independent and I love it. I see so much of me in her. She loves sitting by herself and using her own fork. It's so cute. After we got home from Dothan we had about two hours before supper club started. I threw together some Mexican ranch pasta salad and we headed over to hangout with our neighbors. We got home way to late again and all hit the bed as soon as we could.

Sunday we woke up and took our time getting ready for the day. We grabbed lunch and went to look at a jeep that J has been eyeing. After about  twenty minutes I finally pulled him away from the guy and we headed back home. Charlee and I changed back into jammies and J headed out the door for a work event. We had Tyson chicken nuggets, fries, and mac for dinner. Did a few house chores and called it a night. It was a great weekend.

day in the life

Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Happy Tuesday Guys. I thought that I would share a day in the life of a boring paralegal. I work a government agency that prosecutes criminals. We handle cases from one extreme to the other. Tickets to murders...

My day starts at 5:30 when my alarm goes off. I am the first one to wake up everyday so I can get myself ready for Charlee wakes up for the day. I shower, get dressed, do my hair and makeup, and wake her up for the day.

I make her bottle and my cup of coffee about 6:30. She drinks her bottle while watching Doc McStuffin. I get the furbabies outside and feed. Then enjoy my coffee while finishing up the last few things before heading out the door at 7am.

Charlee and I head out at 7 so I can drop her off at school before I have to be at work at 8am. I usually stick her in highchair with her oatmeal square and sign her in. She eats her breakfast while I unpack her bottles and tell her bye. I head 10 minutes down the road to work.

Since I get here early usually I opened the front this morning. I am usually the person that they call when no one is available to get there in time. I head back to my desk around 9 and turn on the Marvelous Moms podcast. I have been listening to them and trying to get caught up on the million of them.

I work on a few things that I have to check off my list until lunch time. This week is a paperwork busy week. We have weeks that we are dealing with court and grand jury. Then the other two weeks are getting caught up on the paperwork that gets pushed aside during those other two weeks.

Today was a busy morning so I jumped on the Jimmy Johns app and order my lunch. It takes them five minutes to get my office via bike.

After lunch it was back to my desk to research case law and make some calls. I had to walk over to the courthouse to file some papers and get subpoena's that needed to be served.

Finally at 5pm I am off work and head to pick up Charlee. She goes to school in a Old District with beautiful churches and old homes. She is about ten minutes from me in a church daycare.

I get home about 6pm and make Chicken and Rice casserole. J ended up working late at the hospital almost every day last week. So it was just us until five minutes before dinner came out of the oven. I think he has a camera on the oven and knows just when it is eating time.

At 7p we do bath time and I let her get out some last minute energy. She gets a bath every single time to calm her down and get her ready for bed. Her dry skin gets worst if she doesn't get a bath every night too. She gets more itchy. At 7:30 we turn all the lights off except one lamp and her sound machine comes on. We read a handful of books and I give her a bottle. She usually goes to sleep right after she finishes her bottle. She is usually out between 7:45p and 8pm. Depending on when we start bedtime routine.FYI she gets in trouble all the time for putting her ears in the water. She now thinks it is funny...eye roll!

After she gets in bed I clean the kitchen from dinner and get all of our things ready for the next day. Lunches are made. She gets breakfast, 2 bottles, and snacks at school. I pack all of those except the snacks every night. She drinks three to four toddler formula/ pediasure bottles a day. We are still trying to make sure that she doesn't have a drop in weight.

Some where between 9 and 10 I sit on the couch to watch a show on the dvr. Shout out that Homeland started back...Sometime I take this time to soak in the bathtub. Which is the best after a busy day. I usually go to bed around 10ish. Sometimes it isn't until much later.

My day really isn't exciting. It is very long and busy. Some where in that I am going to start adding the gym too. Once J is medically cleared we are gonna start hitting the gym again.

valentine's day | 2018

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Happy Valentine's Day. Today makes our first official valentine's day swap at preschool. I made little goodie bags filled with rice crispy treats and mini candy hearts. I am also sending each child home with a bag full of this Strawberries and cream puppy chow  . This recipe is festive and if you double everything it makes a really yummy treat to eat for yourself. Not that I would know or anything.

8 ounces vanilla candiquik or white chocolate chocolate chips
6-8 cups chex cereal
1 cup strawberry cake mix
1 cup red velvet cake mix
1 cup powdered sugar, divided
½ package valentines chocolate M&M’s
melt half of the candiquik in the provided tray, or in a microwave safe dish, melt the chocolate chips.  if using the chips, add 1/2 teaspoon of shortening to help make it spread evenly.  dump the candy over top of the chex cereal in a large mixing bowl.
in a gallon size ziploc bag, put 1 cup strawberry cake mix and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.  in another ziploc bag, fill with the red velvet cake mix and the remaining half-cup of powdered sugar.
dump half the chex mixture into each of the ziploc bags and shake until coated.
add in the m+m candies and serve!

Happy Valentine's Day!

charlee margaret | 13 months

Sunday, February 11, 2018

thirteen months old!! I feel like we just celebrated her birthday.
she’s growing like a weed.. but she is still our tiny petite baby. her walking has turned into running.

charlee is on the move and constantly having some place to be or go or see.
moving herself around as she pleases.  the personality spewing from this little girls face and demeanor is absolutely hilarious and kinda frightening.  terrifying actually.  she is already sassing everyone around her until she gets what she wants when she wants it.
I cant imagine where she picked that up from.

Charlee Margaret
continues to be the sweetest little girl and gives the best hugs.
..her demeanor is beyond anything I can describe in words.
..she loves loves loves her baby dolls.
..the light up of her face when you hand her the baby is like outrageously cute.
LOVES her wubba.
grunts at the pantry or fridge if she wants a drink or snack.
she is so inpatient.
..and then she’ll slap you square in the nose.
..all while she laughs until tears are running down her face.
Charlee sleeping has been hit or miss.
She has been working on getting those two top teeth.
We will just say It's been ROUGH.
We are working on dropping that first nap and moving down to just one.
She is still a hit or miss eater. She loves food but only wants to eat when she wants too.
..particularly piggy when she eats guacamole or yogurt.
..will choose the veggies or fruit on her plate before touching the meat.
..unless its chicken.
currently cutting her third and fourth tooth.
..but you wouldn’t even know it, unless its 2am and she’s screaming her head off.
she loves to be outside.
..she would stay outside for the day’s entirety if I allowed it.
she also loves loves loves to dance.
..she shakes her little bootie at any sign or sound of music or a beat.
I cant even explain how hilarious her dancing is..
..its like the deepest/lowest squat and then back up. squat and pop.  squat and pop.
I’m telling you.  nut job.
she has a serious ‘tude at times..
..its hilarious and cute now, but I am actually terrified for what the next year will bring.
purses, scarves, bracelets, and necklaces..
..just a few of her favorite things.
Her laugh is absolutely contagious.
..her smile is super cheese-y.
..puts perfection to shame with her ridiculous CRAZY curly hair.
..and her eyes are the most beautiful in the sunlight.

Friday Favs

Friday, February 9, 2018

Happy Friday! So for this edition of Five on Friday I decided to mix it up and do something fun. I decided to tell you guys five things that puts a smile on my face.

One. A good pajama set. There is nothing that says adult more than a great pajama set. For year I work a tshirt and lounge pants to sleep. But about two years ago I actually started buying pajama sets and nothing is better! Nothing says I'm a grown up quite like a PJ set. My favorite is jogger style pants...

Two. I love soup. I can eat soup on the hottest day of the year and be perfectly fine. Soup and salad is my all time favorite!!!

Three. Makeup and Hair products are life. But most of the time I wear minimal makeup and my hair in a bun. I just love having everything to get pretty just in case I actually can.

Four. I love a new shirt or pair of jeans. Nothing makes me feel accomplished and better than having a new wardrobe piece. I love graphic tees and wear them pretty much 90% of the time.

Five. I have a candle obsession. Fall candles are my favorite! I love clean floral smells throughout the house this time of the year to get me in the spring mood. I go crazy when Bath and Body works has there specials throughout the year!

Have a great weekend!

February Goals

Monday, February 5, 2018

Happy Monday! So this year I am trying to hold myself more accountable. I think part of staying on track with that is creating monthly goals and checking them off as the month goes by. January was the hardest month for us and I feel like with February we have a fresh start. I wanted to share some of my goals.

* Menu plan more. I usually wait until that Sunday and attempt to figure out what we are eating for the week but that usually turns in to a half ass plan that never works out. I need to get on the ball and plan at least a week in advance so we can be prepared. I love Walmart's grocery pickup but it is being more popular and harder to do. I also would like to meal plan around all the stuff we have just sitting in our pantry. I love using the freezer and pantry stuff up a few times a year so we can start from scratch again.

* This on kinda piggy backs off the previous one. I need to make so freezer meals to just be able to throw in the crockpot and walk out the door to work. Life get is so busy with us right now and this will save a lot of extra time.

* Make a new budget and live by it. We always make a budget but have actually never gone by it. This month I would like to actually use the budget and stay on track. We always have weird off the wall expenses come up that we never planned for... like a hospital inpatient bill. I want us to have more money in an emergency fund for these type things.

* Reading several books a month as always been a favorite past time of mine but when Charlee came along that kinda went away. Now that she is bigger I would like to at least get back to reading one book a month. I hope to pick up some new mommy books so help give me suggestions on how to be a better mom. I always strive to be better for her and I am open to any tips that I can get.

* I would like to tackle a major closet clean out. I have a lot of clothes that have stain, holes, and just don't get worn. I need to donate, trash, and start rebuilding. If you know any tricks to do this please as them to ya girl.

Do you have any February goals?
