Five Time Management Tips for the Working Momma

Monday, March 25, 2019

Hey Friends! So after we found out that we were pregnant with Charlee the number one question that I had asked was "Are you going back to work after you have the baby?" I always knew what the answer was going to be. Well Heck Yes. You see I would love to spend my days at home watching my sweet girl grow and make memories but I always knew I wanted more for my life. I have goals and dreams so I had to make the decision that I would send her to daycare and keep on keeping on. I am the first to admit though it is so hard being a working mom and balancing everything. I wanted to share a few tips that I have learned in the past two years that have helped me keep my head barely above water.

1. Wake up Early. This has been something that I have done since the first day after maternity leave. Is it Easy... Nope... Is it worth it. YES! I set my alarm clock for 5:30 and get up a hour before everyone else gets up. During that time I shower, get myself ready, pray, and do anything else that I need to do before I hear Can I have a poptart?

2. Make a List. No for real like a new list everyday. I usually start my list the night before because well if I don't I will forget to do things. I keep a list in the notes section of my phone with everything that I need to do. I am horrible about keeping up with random list things that I need to get done. So a list makes it so much easier to remember all the little things that you would never think about. This is also true for anything that you need to do through the week and put it on your calendar. If you know you have three different activities scheduled different days sit down and talk to your spouse so they don't try and schedule something at the same time. And even if they did you can spend time planning to get a sitter and not waiting until the day off and panicking.

3. Get a Routine. Everyone in the family has a better day when you know what is expected. We have pretty much the same routine during the week and that is our saving grace. Every morning we get up and do the same thing and our night routine is mostly the same every night. I think about it this way if you wake up in chaos then you will continue that all day long.

4. Prep as much stuff as you can on Sundays. On Sunday we usually go to the grocery store and I meal prep everything that we will eat throughout the whole week on Sunday. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinners are all prepped and ready to be heated. Laundry is all done and prepped for the week on Sunday. It will save you so much time and stress during the week if you just take a few hours and get things done.

5. ASK FOR HELP! This is so important. You are not wonder woman and you shouldn't try to be. You can't do everything yourself! Your kids can help you... your spouse can help you... your parent/ in laws can help you. Someone can help you. Don't try to do everything yourself!

Do you have any types for the working mama's out there?
